OUR DESIGN PRACTICE

Studio Fronde’s practice is rooted in the design of spaces, with branches extending into the design of objects and graphics. We see projects from Conception through Construction/Installation, assisting clients throughout the entirety of the design process. We are located in Brooklyn, New York.

OUR ETHOS

The Nature Of Things

Central to our practice is the discovery and acknowledgement of the intrinsic qualities that make up a project. These qualities relate to humans and their relationship to their environment, the material world that surrounds them, the project constraints and collaborators involved. They reveal themselves throughout the project and will inspire and influence the design process and with this, the end result.

The Journey

Every project we engage ourselves in is considered a step in the evolution of our design practice. We look at them as opportunities to explore, to discover and to test new things, be it concepts, sources, details, materials, applications and collaborations. This is essential to keeping our love for the practice alive, but also to finding better, more interesting and hopefully innovative ways of thinking of things.

Design In Context

There are certain common visual traits that you’ll find in our work. They involve ideas of simplicity, honesty and functionality, and are the physical manifestation of our values. But it is The Nature of Things that is at the core of our design language, making Design, most importantly, Contextual. As a result, our work is not visually homogenous, nor does it intend to be. It is instead, a response to the diversity of qualities that are unique to every project.

The Marks We Leave Behind

We acknowledge that the industries we work in are some of the most resource intensive in the world. This reality is always present in our work and throughout the decision-making process. Our approach to design is driven by ideas of timelessness and reductiveness, efficiency and appropriate performance, as well as the presence of our clients’ voices so as to make our projects as long-lived and measured as possible. We understand the complexity of defining something as “sustainable”, but we also understand that with every decision made, comes the opportunity to either reduce or increase our impact.

We invite all of our clients and collaborators to work with us in finding the most sensibly environmental design approaches so we can minimize our marks on planet Earth.
